ASHIDO HOKKAIDO is a specialized shoe repair and custom-made footwear workshop founded in 2021 in Sapporo, Hokkaido — a region known for its long, harsh winters and heavy snowfall.
The owner and head craftsman is a proud Hokkaido native with extensive experience in Japan’s oldest shoe repair shop based in Nagoya. Drawing on that heritage and expertise, ASHIDO offers high-quality shoe repair services and Custom shoe-making specifically to Hokkaido’s unique climate and lifestyle.
Meet the Master Craftsman
- Participated in the 1st Japan Shoe Shining Championship as the youngest finalist, and received the Special Jury Prize — the only representative from Hokkaido.
- Spent two years honing his craft on the streets in front of major train stations across Japan.
- Ran a dedicated shoe care and custom footwear shop in Nagoya for 7 years, offering repairs, polishing, and made-to-order shoes.
- Returned to his hometown of HOKKAIDO to found ASHIDO, bringing city-level craftsmanship to Hokkaido’s local community.
In 2025, he was appointed as an official Sapporo Tourism Ambassador, and was selected to participate in Italy’s internationally recognized Vibram® “Cobbler 4.0” training as Hokkaido’s representative.

Winter Sole Installation for Hokkaido Winters
We specialize in attaching winter soles to your favorite boots to help you walk safely on icy streets.
We offer a variety of high-quality soles, including Vibram® and Japanese-made options, suitable for winter in Hokkaido.
Installation can be completed in as little as 3 days depending on the material and condition.

We handle repairs for not only snow boots but also work boots, dress shoes, and leather shoes.
We are experienced with difficult-to-glue materials and overseas-made boots.

Custom-Made Shoes
We offer English-friendly consultations for those seeking truly personal footwear.
Our dedicated shoe fitter will measure your feet and guide you through over 100 design options for your perfect pair.
We offer a wide size range from 22.0 to 30.0 cm and widths from B to 5E, making us a great fit for those who struggle to find shoes in Japan — whether your feet are small, large, wide, or narrow.
Both men’s and women’s shoes are available.

For quick repairs, we can usually return your shoes within 3 to 7 days.
For full sole replacements (resole services), the turnaround time may vary depending on materials and condition.

For custom shoes, please contact us in advance so we can arrange a fitting schedule during your stay.
3. How much does winter sole installation cost? / 冬底取付の料金はいくらですか？
Prices vary depending on the boot type and sole material (e.g., Vibram or Japanese-made).

4. Do you accept credit cards or foreign payment methods? / クレジットカードや海外の決済方法は使えますか？
